VIMF Creative Futures Scholarship

At the Vaughan International Music Festival, we believe music is the international language that connects every culture.

The VIMF Creative Futures Scholarship supports emerging artists and community-based cultural organizations across York Region. Rooted in our commitment to cultural diversity and creative expression, this program helps reduce financial barriers and amplify voices shaping our region’s artistic future. 

Through this initiative, VIMF provides financial support and long-term community engagement to help amplify local voices, preserve cultural heritage, and build sustainable artistic futures.

VIMF has awarded $35,000 in scholarships to date and has committed a total of $150,000 to support future scholarship recipients. 

Award Amount

Recipients may receive $1,000 to $5,000, based on the strength of their application.
Funds may be used for artistic development, equipment, studio time, education, programming, or project delivery.

Individuals Organizations
Ages 16 to 29
Based in York Region
Must reside in York Region
Actively engaged in arts, culture, or music initiatives
Involved in or pursuing studies or careers in arts, culture, or music
Demonstrate measurable community impact

Cultural Reflection

As an international and multicultural festival, VIMF places strong emphasis on cultural identity and expression.

The 2024 VIMF Arts & Cultures Scholarship Recipients

In 2024, VIMF was honoured to award a total of $13,000 to three outstanding recipients who are actively expanding music opportunities in our communities.
